2010 Elections

Top Two & RCV

Top Two -  A primary where the top two vote getters, no matter if they are the same party, are the ones to advance to the general election

Because of the "top two" system, political parties hold nominating conventions to select their official candidate in a statewide election.  The 2nd LD's will be May 3.

RCV - Ranked Choice Voting - this system requires votes to rank their top 3 choices in order of preference in the general election in November. These candidates have NO primary election process for elimination. This system in for Pierce County elections only, not federal, state or other local elections.

If you think this is confusing, you're right. Please read the details in your voter's pamphlet.
